Local Malaysian companies intending to expand into overseas market are urged to take part in the Incoming Buying Mission (IBM) here on March 31, 2015 in conjunction with the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2015.
The IBM will be held one day before the opening of the MIHAS Trade Fair on April 1.
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), in a statement today, said IBM MIHAS would provide an opportunity for Malaysian companies to participate in a one-to-one business matching session with international buyers.
“More than 300 companies from 42 countries will take part in the one-day event,” it said.
Participating countries include China, Algeria, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, Qatar, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Matrade said international buyers were mainly looking for food products such as juices, cordials, poultry, seafood, fruits and nuts, bakery products, jam, jelly, puddings, spices and condiments, processed vegetables, and fruits.
“However, Malaysian suppliers of food packaging and containers, herbal and traditional products as well as toiletries should also participate in the event,” it said.
Mihas has generated total sales of US$291.4 million (RM1.08 billion) in 2014, of which US$143.9 million was from the incoming buying mission.
