Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, an experienced Islamic Finance expert and Shari’ah advisor recognized for his work on Shariah Leadership & Advisory and the Islamic Finance has been named President of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Amanie Group.
Amanie Advisors, one of its flagship companies is today operating in 6 cities around the world. He currently sits as the Chairman of few the Shariah Advisory Council at the Central Bank of Malaysia, the Securities Commission of Malaysia, the Labuan Financial Services Authority, and the First Abu Dhabi Bank.
Additionally, Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is a Shariah Board member of different financial insitutions globally including the National Bank of Oman (Oman), Amundi Asset Management (France), Bank of London and Middle East (UK), BNP Paribas (Bahrain), and Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (New York) amongst many others.
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar will sit as the eight president of the university. He will succeed Malaysia’s Education Minister Dr. Maszlee Malik. He was also a Faculty member of IIUM few years ago.
The appointment of Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar who is known as a dynamic scholar – as the new President of IIUM is seen to take IIUM to the next level.
